Who says you need an electrician? 💡 How to change an outlet

Changing outlets was SO intimidating to me when I started doing projects around the house. Electrical seems intimidating and scary. But it DOESN’T HAVE TO BE.

Here are the simple steps for changing out an outlet:

1. Turn off the power for the outlets

2. Check to see there is no electricity and unscrew the old outlet

3. Place the new outlet

   1. Ground (bare) wire to green

   2. White wire to silver screws

   3. Black wire to gold screws

4. Reattach screws into outlet box

5. Screw in your new cover

6. TA-DA! Old/loose/broken outlet NO MO.

I recommend using a screwdriver so you don't strip your screws! I used a drill because it was all I had on hand.
